Hi! I’m Eva Mitchell and I am an Illustration and Animation Master’s student studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
I studied Animation at Cardiff Met beginning in 2021, and graduated in the summer of 2024.
I enjoy digital art and 2d drawn animation, and have experience using TVPaint, Aftereffects, Procreate and Photoshop. I am working towards gaining some experience in rigging and animation using Toonboom and Moho. In 2024, I completed my final film Basil the Brave. I am now working on a new project.
I have attended Kilkenny Animated in Ireland twice, and the Move summit in Edinburgh in February 2025. I have also attended multiple Cloth Cat Academy courses between November 2023 and September 2025, and I am currently completing National Talent Academies ToonBoom Harmony workshop.
In September 2025, I had a great opportunity as an assistant animator at Cloth Cat studio in Cardiff, working on their Christmas short film Ysrbryd yr Oerfel (The Ghost of Midwinter) where I worked in a professional studio environment and gained experience using Moho and Photoshop.
Here I gained skills blocking and animating rigs in Moho, as well as illustrating backgrounds and assets using Photoshop.
The film was shown on S4C on Christmas Day 2025, where I acquired my first industry accreditation.
Living in Cardiff, I have immersed myself in the rich artistic community both within animation and illustration. I regularly attend Cardiff Animation nights at the Underdog pub and have taken part in challenges such as Cardiff Quick Draw. I have also attended the Cardiff Animation weekender, the Cardiff print festival, and have close ties with Arthole on Cowbridge road. I currently share an art studio there with an illustrator friend, stock my prints in the shop, and have vended at craft fairs. My prints are available at Arthole’s website, here: https://artholecardiff.com/
I love character animation and design, and especially love to draw animals. I mostly use Procreate for my digital art.
Since beginning my Master’s degree, I have started to expand into traditional art, using a range of mediums such as crayon, coloured pencil, and ink. I have an interest in printmaking, particularly screenprinting.
Some personal interests of mine include collecting records and CDs, and attending live music performances (my favourites are Pulp, Elbow, and the Divine Comedy!).
